Do you talk about your ex?
Posted by: Richard - May 5th 2015, 1:37 PM - Forum: Random - Replies (1)

The past is the past and we all have one. I just don't want to hear about it as what we have now is all that matters.

I do not know if it's common practice for people to talk about their ex(s) however I was reading that if your current bf/gf can't stop talking about that person, then it means they are still holding hope that relationship is alive. And, that is bothersome too. My view is, just literally forget it and move on.

I've been with women who....no matter what....talk about their ex's in turn making me talk about my horrible experiences! It just seems there is no way around it unless you marry or date a virgin...than there isn't an excuse. But me and my wife know each other's entire history....almost back to back.

Some people are okay with it and than you have some that can't take it.

My question is.....do you talk about it with your current bf/gf?

Free 2 Play or Pay 2 Play?
Posted by: Richard - May 5th 2015, 12:59 PM - Forum: Gaming - Replies (10)

I've played my fair share of online games and I honestly prefer Free 2 Play.

I didn't always have the money to go on a payment plan for games like WoW or Final Fantasy 14. Instead I played games like Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 because if you're paying monthly payments, some times it can be hindering based on your job and living conditions.

I can afford to play those games today, but I choose not to as I feel its not worth the hassle. I understand that if you're paying, you will have better services and able to do more. Less server issues and getting kicked off.

So what about you, are you free 2 play or do you like to pay?

I vote free 2 play.

Oh...I'm horrible. I get around to things much much later. Or just forget completely. I don't know if its a sign of early dementia. I know I got fired at Wal-Mart for it when I worked in produce, but that also could have been because I already was sick of that job and hated it.

I watched this movie not to long ago and I really loved it. I heard they were making another film. I hope they do. Keanu was awesome in this movie. I haven't seen him do this much action, since The Matrix. If you haven't watched it yet, you owe it to yourself to go out and rent this movie or buy it. It is so worth it.

  Level scale down.
Posted by: Richard - May 5th 2015, 12:09 PM - Forum: Gaming - No Replies

When I started playing Guild Wars 2. I really liked it. I think my biggest issue with this game was that they scaled down your level and equipment to the max level cap of the area. Which sucked royally. So if you were level 80 and went over to an area where there were a bunch of level 5-7 players. Well, you were scaled down to their level.

Honestly if it wasn't for that, I probably would have liked this game much more. But honestly didn't.

It made quests and missions a bit harder and its like the devs were encouraging you to work with other players. Honestly. I didn't like it so I became frustrated and eventually quit playing.

Reason being at the time that there was not a lot of people playing and I felt that other games were better deserving of my time.

Anyone else not like this feature?

  The Deadly Dozen Trilogy
Posted by: DEAD FiSH - May 2nd 2015, 6:12 PM - Forum: Gaming - Replies (4)

I am a big junkie for Stealth and for First Person Shooters. There are three games that I wish to discuss here:
• Deadly Dozen
• Deadly Dozen: Pacific Theater
• Line Of Sight: Vietnam.
They are all on the same engine (which is why I'm calling this a trilogy) and are basically same games developed by nFusion Interactive.
Now these games are obscure, the first two are WW2 games and the last one obviously was based on a Vietnam war.
They aren't perfect, the ally AI is pretty dumb (especially in Vietnam).

All three games share same mechanics.
The inventory system is same: You hold everything from waepons to health items and lock picks in one inventory and cycle through it with your mouse wheel. The number keys are used to cycle quickly through different types of weapons.
The pain system is interesting: In all three games when you character gets hit he goes through this shock in which he's unable to do anything. I have trained myself to specifically avoid this pain state. Surprising your enemy is the key since they have this pain state too and is actually very crippling if you know what you're doing.
Both Deadly Dozens have drivable vehicles and tanks, but sadly Vietnam does not.
The follower selection is same in both DD games. You get to choose a follower based on his stats (and what you need in the mission) and get to equip him with weapons (even exotic ones like a flamethrower, though again you need to choose this based on mission and what you need or suits you).
Also all games have same stealth mechanics. The enemies upon hearing you will start going in your direction, if you run away they will search you for a while and then go idle again. This especially goes to show in Vietnam where you are in a situation like shooting at a target with a sniper and then walking away because the fire from your rifle made a really loud sound (pistols for example aren't as loud, though there are no silencers in these games). You would also need to pay attention to the sound you make while walking because for example foliage can make sound too when you walk through it and your footsteps can be heard while you are running. This works the same in all games but is crucial in Vietnam to pay attention to. There are no stealth indicators of any kind in these games (and I like that). The only indication you have are enemies, their stance and what they are speaking. Not some magical image over their head that displays their alertness level. You have to guess for yourself and that is my point here. I like that.
Also and I almost forgot, all three games have a third person mode which also goes to shine in Vietnam because you need it. Though the camera isn't shoulder mounted, which forces you to switch back to FPS mode in order to shoot more accurately and I actually like this.
Also in all three games you have an accuracy system too, depending on if you are standing, crouching or lying on the ground plus running affects your accuracy. There's no iron sight in these games tho (except for snipers, though there's no zoom for snipers).

One of the things I like in these games is that they are hard, especially Vietnam. You will get killed a lot by an enemy you didn't even see. What I recommend in Vietnam is leaving your follower behind and going alone, then after you've cleared the map lead him to the exit. The great thing though is that in all three games you can switch and control your followers.
This is especially handy for inventory management.

The graphics in these games are nice for the time. Pacific Theater and Vietnam look almost identical for example, but the style is all good. You will have to stomach pixelation in DD1 if you aren't into that sort of thing.

Now I'm interested if anyone of you guys has played these old games (and I'm also interested in starting a discussion about games since the site is so inactive).

Also I should mention that Pacific Theater is a little buggy. For example the tank turret in that game is hovering in the air (although I have grown to see this as more of a blessing than a curse because the hitbox works and I can spot it more easily), alarm in Theater also goes into an infinite loop and if enemies turn it on again it actually doubles in loudness.
DD1 has a nasty habit of resetting your walk forward command from whatever you set (like W) to nothing every time you enter the game. And Vietnam has some clipping issues on Win7, you can often get stuck into geometry. You know jabbing back and forth, which is actually a curse in a game that is all about being hard.

  Tips & Tricks
Posted by: newbyclive - Apr 25th 2015, 11:23 AM - Forum: Gaming - No Replies

Tips
• When using multiplayer for the first time its best to go in a Free Flight room and see how much ping you have and get familiar with the extra content on the interface like the chat or squadron control button.
• Try your best not to go in rooms with players ranking 12+ and/or have the RF15X for higher unless you have a fighter of equal rank.
• The Spec Opps and Photo class are very over powered so avoid fighters from those class unless you have a fighter of equal class.
• The UFOO1X is sooo Over Powered!!!!!
• Make sure you have enough speed before executing a special maneuver
• Never engage your opponent in a head-on attack
• You can land on a runway vertically if you speed is under 195mph.
• You can crash into terrain, structures and other fighter so don't fly to close 1f609
Tricks
• Diving under structures may get your attacker off your tail.
• Making sharp turns can help you to dodge incoming missiles when you run out of flares.
• You can land on a runway vertically if you speed is under 195mph.
• When facing a stronger fighter in multiplayer, try leading them away from the spwan area and as far away as possible, take advantage of the fact that the map is endleess. This will give you time to plan your attack or go in the opposite direction and play a game of cat & mouse.

  Combat Maneuvers
Posted by: newbyclive - Apr 22nd 2015, 10:00 PM - Forum: Gaming - No Replies

Before I tell you about any of these Air Combat Maneuvers(ACM) you must note that this is not a simulation game. The game has very little physics so you can not out climb or out dive another player that has the same fighter as you. The max speed of your jet is the highest speed you will ever go, you may lose speed in a turn or performing one of the pre-programed maneuvers that every fighter has by making swipe(s) from the center of your screen up, down, left or right.

Basic maneuvers

360° Dodge- This maneuver is quite simple to execute. Pull down on the trust and quickly perform a 360° turn, adjust the sharpness of your turn depending on the situation that your in. Sharper turns are best at dodging incoming missiles and and wider turn might be used to confused your attacker which direction your heading to invade him.  How? Well you will lose speed while making a 360° turn making it unpredictable when you will brake off because your going around in a full circle. You can brake off at any point and your attacker won't have enough time to react and will probably try and follow but will make a wider turn. This gives you a chance to quickly make a 90° turn after you brake off in the 0.5 second your out of your opponents field of view. This grants you enough time to go on the offensive.
Another situation this can and be used in is dodging incoming missiles. Because this is a game you can make a 360° turn in less than 2 seconds going mach 2. Sadly the missiles can still go faster than you, but lucky you can out maneuver them because of their high speed they don't do well in making a very sharp turn like this. Even a 180° turn can get them off your tail.
I just realized how much I wrote about this one maneuver. I really need to make these shorter.

Crash buddy- If you are not familiar with game controls then this maneuver is not for you.
This works best in fighters that are very maneuverable.
There is different ways to execute this, the simplest one is to just go in a dive and pull up at the last minute, if your attacker is hot on your tail and not noticing where your leading him will try to pull up but will fail because has a higher speed. If your opponent top speed is lower than yours then this maneuver is not necessary.
A more complex way is to try and reach your top speed and lead them into the city or close to mountains. Once there you should make sure there is enough space for you to execute this without crashing yourself. While still at your top speed quickly turn into the mountain or building and pull down on the trust and turn away as quickly as possible. Your attacker will either crash leaving you victorious or pull away and taking you out of there sights long enough for you to escape or go on the offensive.

NR Strike- This one is quite dangerous but if executed correctly will in most cases guarantee a kill. Works best with interceptor fighters. Get your target locked in from any vantage point(altitude doesn't matter since you can reach your top speed in any direction). Approach the target but try to maintain a speed between 900-1100 mph because it might try and make evasive maneuvers fearing you will attack. When you are so close to your opponent that you are in danger of crashing into it if your opponent uses their air brakes you should fire all your missiles at your target and pull back and to the side so the smoke doesn't disrupt your vision. The reason for getting so close is to make sure your opponent has very little time to react to your missiles using flares.

I`ll be adding more maneuvers to this list soon.

  Pseudo Story
Posted by: newbyclive - Apr 22nd 2015, 11:25 AM - Forum: Random - Replies (7)

Saturday I was at my friend's house chilling with him and his sister, playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and yes I thought it was kinda weird that a girl liked that game. But I wasn't going to judge her because I beat her at it 7 times in a row. But that's not why I'm writing this story. The reason I'm writing is because of the story he told me about his time at the park Friday.  This was another fake story that he mad up just to see how good he can come up with a lie in a sticky situation, and here is how it goes....from my perspective of course.
My friend told me that he went to the park Friday around 5:30pm to practice his planking skills. He showed me a few pictures of him planking on a railing beside a corner store that we visited often. He was pretty good at staying stiff as a plank on the edge of the rail but he got bored after a while and walked over to a bench at the East end of the park and sat down to enjoy the Doritos he just bought. As soon as he sat down a 18-wheeler burst through the North fence at about 60-mph killing a group of kids that where playing in at area. Next the truck ran over two unsuspecting dogs and their owner then finally stopping after it hit a police car on the opposite side of the park.
The police officer inside was also killed in this horrific accident. The cargo that was inside the trailer was rubbing alcohol for a local Walmart store.  It started burning a few seconds after the truck came to rest with the police car crushed under the front end near the left tire. And a few bystanders tried to see if anyone was still alive after that horrible reck but was soon forced back after the fire blazed up and was now spreading to the gas tanks on the side of the truck. He called a man standing next to him saying that it was like a scene out of a movie. The fire reached the gas tanks but didn't explode, it didn't even grew in size. The bystanders now thought it was safe so they crept ever so slow towards the truck with fluids leaking from the engine everywhere.
They discovered that the drive was literally crushed in half by the hood and windshield fragments that forced its way inside the cabin. Then the unthinkable happened. The gas tanks on the truck exploded which leaded to an bigger explosion of the rest of the alcohol in the back of the trailer. The gas tanks where built to withstand excessive amount of heat and pressure in situation like this but not continuously for 26 minutes. The initial explosion killed the 13  bystanders near the truck but the second one sent loose parts flying in every direction and started a fire on a near by widowing tree. Lucky the city workers that where scheduled to remove the tree didn't show up on time or they would have been apart of this nightmare.  Now the fire started to spread to the rest of the park due to high winds and surprising low humidity.
In the end there was a total of 22 dead. Investigators say that brake failure is to blame

  SWTOR Starter Guide
Posted by: Liz - Apr 17th 2015, 11:32 PM - Forum: Gaming - Replies (1)

So you're probably new and are feeling overwhelmed at the amount of bits and pieces to learn? Don't worry, I was there and know how you feel, that's why I'm making this post 1f601

I'll go over the basics, so if you're a veteran, you'll probably find this post very boring (heck, even a new player might find this boring).

---- Deciding on a class ----

There are 8 classes, each one has 2 advanced class, so there are effectively 16 classes to play. Exciting!

-- REPUBLIC --
Key: CLASS -> ADVANCED CLASS (TYPES) / ADVANCED CLASS (TYPES)

Trooper -> Vanguard (Tank, DPS) /  Commando (DPS, Healer)
Smuggler -> Scoundrel (DPS, Healer) / Gunslinger (DPS, DPS)
Jedi Consular -> Shadow (Tank, DPS) / Sage (DPS, Healer)
Jedi Knight -> Guardian (Tank, DPS) / Sentinel (DPS, DPS)

-- EMPIRE --

Bounty Hunter -> Powertech (Tank, DPS) / Mercenary (DPS, Healer)
Imperial Agent -> Sniper (DPS, DPS) / Operative (DPS, Healer)
Sith Warrior -> Juggernaut (Tank, DPS) / Marauder (DPS, DPS)
Sith Inquisitor -> Assassin (DPS, Tank) / Sorcerer (DPS, Healer)

---- Beginning your journey ----

After you make your character and land on your starting planet, here are a few things you should do

- Check out your map (M)
- Familiarize yourself with your abilities, learn which number to press for which ability
- Make sure you like everything about your character, because changing things later will cost Cartel Coins (real money)

-- Some things to remember while you progress --

- Always locate and activate quick travel points, these are SUPER helpful, especially on end-game planets
- Make sure you're geared properly for whatever planet you're on
- Pick up every mission you come across - dropping them is easy, returning to pick it up takes much more time
- Sell any gear you don't need, this is GREAT for making credits!
- Don't select "Need" when you don't need the item, this makes other people very angry.

---- That's all, for now ----

I'll add more soon, and make better points

Please pin this 2764

  [SWTOR] Speeding up "reorganizing data"
Posted by: entity - Apr 12th 2015, 10:57 AM - Forum: Gaming - No Replies

This has to be done once the launcher is patching. It won't increase your download speed, only the speed for it's reorganizing data stage.

Open the task manager
Press ctrl+shift+esc and go to the processes tab. Click on "Show processes from all users". Sort the processes by Image Name, you'll want to look for processes starting with B and one called launcher.exe

Check their descriptions
The processes starting with B should mention bitraider in their descriptions, while launcher.exe should mention SWTOR.

Now that you've identified the processes
Do this for each of them. Right click > Set Affinity > uncheck CPU 3 and CPU 2, leaving CPU 1 and CPU 0 checked.

Give it a few seconds and it should speed up by a good bit.
